Fertilizing the Mind

Eph. 3:20
God has perfect plans for me.St Augustine 241
He has set the tide of success in motion
to arrive at the appointed
time, place, and season.
My surfboard is ready,
for my tide of change is going to be
abundantly above and beyond
my wildest imagination         by Melody Hord

When God originally created mankind, He saw us as a very good creation, made in His profound image…… sinless and perfect…… with the ability to think, imagine, and create mesmerizing things. Man lived gleefully as he productively tilled away in the garden.
Even though they walked around naked in the beginning, they did not feel inhibited or shameful for they had no negatives in their lives. Nothing scandalous or blameworthy had ever occurred.
However, it didn’t take long for mankind to think up something contrary.
What is the imagination? According to Bing dictionary… it is the ability to visualize; the ability to form images and ideas in the mind, especially of things never seen or experienced directly. Our imagination gives us the ability to think of ways of dealing with difficulties or problems.
It is the driving force that spurs human accomplishments.
When used for lofty and noble visualization, the imagination is what takes us to our destiny.
In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve were tempted to use their imagination to go against God’s requests. Man was tempted and failed the test.

Emotional turmoil, physical pain, and financial struggles, can all tempt us to think unproductively about ourselves, solutions, and others.
Some people obsess over the past. If only they had done this or said that. Living in the past may harm us from imaging something wonderful for the present.
Jesus used his thoughts as God intended. … using the mind to resist destructive temptations and pursue meritorious ones.

My affirmations help me change my thought patterns and focus on positive outcomes instead of negative ones.
Is it OK to imagine something fantastic for your life? Of course! Imagining something is the first step to getting there. How can we ever achieve something or figure out how to accomplish something if we can’t imagine it. Just remember, whatever we imagine…. God can see something infinitely grander than we can!!!

DSCN2398I want my imagination to flourish. Not on what others may think, disobedience or vengeful acts, but on positive life-giving goals. Visualize it, taste it feel it.

Currently, I am visualizing a friend of mine starting a successful business, and my helping  him get there. I am imagining myself getting stronger physically, and even achieving a flat stomach. I am seeing myself raising the money for a Deep Well. I am believing that my relationship with my husband is growing and becoming more supportive and loving every day.

It all starts in the mind. For as a man thinks, so he is.

The power to change myself and the world begins in the imagination. What are you imagining?

  1. Melody, this was just what I needed to read today. Thank you for the inspiration. Ann

  2. Ann, think about something noble and happy …. God sees something even better and He will help you get there.

Good—Imagining is a more powerful word than planning. I will move on up to something less practical and more creative.
